AdLib Attends Poverty Forum

On January 27th, AdLib staff attended the Berkshire Community Action Council’s Conversation on Poverty. BCAC provides advocacy and assistance to low income people in the Berkshires. They offer a variety of programs that help people work towards becoming self-sufficient. Other local agencies and community members were in attendance to gather information and share resources about poverty. Panelists talked about their agencies roles and efforts to help people facing poverty. The panelists discussed what they are able to offer to people in the community and what the barriers are for people facing poverty that prevent them for accessing or utilizing these services. The panelists included, The Brien Center, Greylock Federal Credit Union, The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority, BerkshireWorks, Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, Berkshire Community College, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, and 18 Degrees. After we heard from all panelists, we went into breakout groups to discuss the topics further.  Through discussion, we learned that there are many resources available in our community. AdLib staff members worked collaboratively with many agencies to find help and resources for our consumers. Conversations like this one, help us all connect to get the resource information to the people we work with, that need help.
