This is one of the most common questions asked to us at AdLib. The PCA program is our largest program, and it’s designed to keep people with disabilities to remain living independently in their homes. This program offers many benefits to our consumers, who wish to stay at home, and to people wanting to work as a PCA. For our consumers, people with a disability that need assistance with ADLS’ and IADL’s, the PCA program allows them to choose their own caregiver. This also comes with the responsibility of managing the caregiver, the consumer then becomes the employer of the PCA.
To make all this happen there is a process required from MassHealth, that consumers must follow through with in order to be determined eligible to be on the PCA program. There is also a separate process for people wanting to work as a PCA to complete.
